Our Love Story

My vocation is love

Lupita's perspective... I read a quote some time ago that made my heart sparkle" I bet Jesus smiles so big when He hears two people unknowingly praying for each other". I started praying for my vocation way before meeting Andrew. I asked Jesus to write my love story. On October 1st, 2023, I prayed to St. Therese on her feast day to intercede for my vocation. I asked her to become good friends with my future husband and prayed a 54-day Rosary novena to St. Joseph. In February I came across Andrew again at a church event Friday night live. What caught my attention was that he had just finished reading Story of a Soul a biography of St. Therese.  After spending time together dancing, hiking, and other church events, I realized I liked him. We started dating that summer virtually since I was in Europe. In France, I visited St. Therese Basilica and got Andrew a “forever” rose from there. I thought it would be a sweet gesture since he also loved her. That summer I was praying for my future spouse's physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. I was doing the work so I wanted him to have the graces. In July, Andrew told me he was going on a healing retreat at the church of St.Therese! That was one of the first times I realized; “ could this be my person?” After dating for 7-8 months we realized St. Joseph and St. Therese and all the Saints we prayed to were rooting for us. The rose Andrew had asked St. Therese was given by me from her actual basilica in France! WHAT ARE THE ODDS haha. God is good and He continues to write our love story! Andrew's perspective... January of 2023, I started a Novena to St. Thérèse of Lisieux for clarity in my vocation. In February, I asked her to reveal who my future wife would be. In March, I asked for the same thing. I decided to wait after that. I asked her for a red rose for confirmation. Lupita invited me to a beach party she was hosting in Goleta in late April. She was giving dance lessons that day so I decided to try it out and had so much fun. I wasn’t much of a dancer at first, but after that day I was eager to learn more. Dancing together made me realize I liked her more than just a friend. In June, I finally mustered up the courage to ask her on a date. We were long-distance for two months talking over FaceTime while she was in Europe. Once she got back to California I officially asked her to be my Girlfriend! Dating her has been the happiest time of my life, getting to know her heart, and her story has been a huge honor! On October 1st the feast day of St. Thérèse I brought her a bouquet of roses with a variety of colors, and she had for me a single red rose! Just like the rose I asked for, and on the feast day of St.Thérèse! I don’t think that's a coincidence. I visited her hometown of Chicago and spent Thanksgiving with her and her family, which was a great experience! We eventually started talking about marriage and the life we wanted to have together! I proposed to her on the beaches of Santa Barbara, a place near and dear to her heart! It was cloudy that day so I prayed to God that he would show some sunlight for the moment I got down on one knee, and He did! There was one place in the sky where there weren't that many clouds, and that was enough for him to do his work and make the moment very special for us. I chose Trinity Sunday because the family is a symbol of the Trinity here on earth and a family is something I have longed for in my life. God is faithful and he gave me an incredible woman to have by my side for the journey to heaven. Lupita is a beautiful, God-fearing virtuous woman who is faithful and committed. I can’t wait to start our journey together, to our eternal home!
