Let's skip the boring details. We wrote an entire sappy story then realized it was a snooze-fest and rewrote it to include only the juiciest of details (and our favorite parts, of course). Nick and Sarah met in high school (thank you, Diana), and constantly thought about each other over the years. They even briefly dated before Nick left for medical school - emphasis on brief. A few tumultuous relationships later, Nick completely gave up on love and Sarah found herself dumping someone who was clearly inferior. Both Nick and Sarah always had a voice in the back of their heads asking "what if...?" they dated the other person. Sarah wanted to wait a respectable amount of time after a break up before reaching out to Nick...which lasted exactly 1 week before she told herself, "screw it!" and sent him a text. Nick eagerly called Sarah after she texted him, and invited her over to cook chicken parm together. That day they realized the voice in the back of their heads was right all along. They've been together ever since, and constantly tell each other, "It's always been you." Every day they are both in awe of the fact that they are marrying their high school crush, their "what if?" person, and the one who almost got away.
