How did we meet? Our story! I met Lune in January of 2018 in a coffee shop, during a hangouts session that my church was hosting. I arrived late so the greetings and pleasantries happened after hangouts. One thing that stood out to me was her luxurious long hair and her million dollar smile. The lasting impression wasn’t something out of a romantic film, it was more like a mystery! Who is this girl... I felt like her story was probably unique. I wanted to discover more about her but my heart cautioned me to remember what season that I was in. A season of restoration, empowerment and improvement. To my satisfaction, Lune jumped in my dm’s. She reached out via Facebook and wanted to “know” more about the Fort Lauderdale area as her sights was set on relocating to the south Florida area. I knew this was her spitting game at me and I secretly indulged. 2 months later of Facebook messages, an anticipated date was planned at the shooters waterfront in Fort Lauderdale. I noticed that she was extremely nervous and she didn’t finished her meal. It was not a surprise that our conversation went well, we’re both good conversationalist. The conclusion of our date was sealed with a first kiss outside our Pastor’s parking lot lol. We grew closer, an already awakened love was being nurtured, but the decision to make real what I felt in my heart was obstructed by fear, past hurt and trauma. We remained in the space of I want this but not yet. I kept her there, I kept us there. Knowing her worth, and being fed up... Lune removed herself from the space of Jack’s uncertainties. My world was flipped on its head. Nothing made sense without her. I had to ask myself some heart wrenching questions. With time and space apart, I gained understanding of self, by facing my fears and trauma. During the earlier part of February I unequivocally decided on Lune. I made up for lost time and on February 25th 2019 I asked and her acceptance made it official.
I remember the day I met Jackson quite well. I was thinking about moving to Fort Lauderdale so I reached out to the pastors of The Font church to learn more about what they were doing. Vanessa invited me to join them on a Saturday evening at The Brew Coffee Shop for a group conversation about how The Gospel applies to our lives. Jackson came in late, carrying two little kids (Ellison + Izzy) and I thought “How cute!” We ended up having a great time, discussing so many things but I didn’t talk to Jackson much. The next day I attended the Sunday service and knew this would be my home church. I also saw Jackson and he was dressed to impress (for the Lord of course). We ended up being in the same connect group and Vanessa always had us doing something. We did painting with a twist as a group and had movie nights. It was fun getting to know the community. During that time I came to learn more about Jackson. One day I reached out to him to find out more about living in Ft. Lauderdale and we ended up talking much longer than I expected. We went on our first date and we had such a great time. After awhile, I decided to walk away. A few months after my abrupt cut off, Jackson mustered up the courage to ask me if I wanted to get ice cream with a group of friends. I ended up not going but we were able to have a heart to heart that eventually led Jackson to ask me to be his girlfriend. It’s been a journey. Relationships are hard work but beautiful and Jackson and I have put in some hard work. He’s my best friend and my partner. I couldn’t imagine doing life with anyone else. So when he asked me to marry him, I said yes!
