How we met...

Sunmer of 2010

Rae: Cody and I met the summer I turned 17. My sister, Nicole was dating Cody's next door neighboor Mike. Cody and Mike grew up together and were inseparable. There is an ongoing joke that Mike and Cody know each other better than Nicole and I, but that's an argument I won't get into. As I started to hang around Nicole and Mike more I kept hearing about Mike’s neighbor Cody. I would often get invited over to mikes house for volleyball tournaments and I would try and catch glimpses of mikes charming neighbor. One summer evening Cody ended up joining in on our tournament and we became friends. Cody would show off his volleyball serve and I showed off my dolphin-like swimming skills. Little did Cody know that I had developed a pretty big crush on him. I couldn’t keep this secret to myself and I blabbed to Nicole. She of course couldn't keep it to herself and told Mike. They both schemed together to get Cody to kiss me. Keep in mind this happened to be my first kiss and I was clueless. Cody wouldn't leave back to school without kissing me first.... he succeeded! He went off to college that fall and I finished high school. The following year I started my own journey to college. I always had Codys smile and charm in the back of my mind. I fell in love with his confidence and humor, and how he made me feel so good about myself. Cody went on to chase his dream of playing professional baseball. We talked here and there and I would wonder if we would ever see each other again...

When we started dating

Fast forward 5 years....

Cody: Fast forward to the next time I saw Rachael after that kiss. Mike and Nicole came over on a Friday in December and invited me to a party next door. I was told Rachael was in town and hanging out next door. I acted all chill and said I would probably head over later that evening. The second they left I ran upstairs to shower and got dressed to come over. When I walked downstairs to Mikes basement the first person I saw was this angel playing beer pong. I noticed as soon as I walked down the stairs she locked eyes with me, and then looked away in a shy honest way. Just so everyone knows, she's somehow really good at beer pong for “never playing in college” anyways, I digress. I remember waiting for what seemed like hours to finally get the chance to talk to her. The greatest part was when we first talked she was the one that came over to me. That's about when I knew this was the woman for me. She had a sense of direction, she was so smart, she was super humble, and all she wanted to do was talk about me??? Most would call that class, another amazing trait. We stayed up that entire night talking and catching up. Fast forward a few months to when we started dating. I made three promises to Rachael for her saying yes. The first promise was that I would give her a kiss at every red light we stoped at together. My second promise was that I would never let us go to bed mad at each other. The last promise I made was that I would tell her I love her every night. I've kept 2 of the 3. (I didnt realize how many red lights there are) Rachael I am so excited to make new promises with you, but his time a little more permanent!
