Wedding celebrations kick off Friday morning with an optional cultural tour and wrap up Sunday with a farewell brunch. We recommend arriving on Thursday or Friday and staying through Monday to soak up Oaxaca and all its magic.
The OAX airport is very small and super easy to navigate. It's twenty minutes outside of town. Once you collect your baggage, head to the transport kiosk. You can get a taxi or a shared colectivo van (group dropoff). There's a set fee for the trip into town, and it's about $10 per person. Our wedding planner, Friederike, is also happy to schedule a pickup and drop off for you. You can reach her on WhatsApp at +52 951 548 0210.
No. The city is very walkable, there are plenty of taxis, and plenty of organized tours with transportation. If you’re looking to do day trips on your own, we recommend hiring a private driver (quite affordable). While your hotel concierge will be happy to provide you with a private driver, you can find driver recommendations in the "Travel + Hotels" section of the website.
Yes! Oaxaca is one of Mexico's safest states. The city has a friendly, small-town feel. As with any city, stay aware and use common sense—most visitors feel completely comfortable exploring.
Oaxaca is both a state and a city! Oaxaca City is landlocked, nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains in southwestern Mexico. While there’s no beach in the city, the stunning coastline of Oaxaca is now even easier to reach! Thanks to a new highway, Puerto Escondido—a gorgeous beach town—is just a 2.5-hour drive away (or a quick 40-minute flight). For an easy and budget-friendly option, ADO buses offer a super safe and comfortable ride. You can check schedules and book tickets here: https://www.ado.com.mx/
Yes! Many guests are flying through CDMX, so we put together a list of our favorite places to eat, shop, and explore. Scroll down to the bottom of the Travel + Hotels page to check it out.
The currency is Mexican Pesos. One USD is around 20 pesos. Banks and ATMs are the safest way to exchange. Citibanamex is a reliable bank with several locations. Most places take credit cards, but it's good to carry some pesos, especially for markets or smaller vendors.
Like in all other regions in Mexico, we advise that you do not drink tap water or use water from the tap to brush your teeth. All hotels and restaurants in the city will serve you bottled water. When in doubt, ask for "agua embotellada" or "agua mineral".
Yes! Oaxaca’s food scene is incredible, and restaurants can fill up quickly. For meals outside of wedding festivities, we suggest booking ahead. Many spots take reservations via Instagram or WhatsApp.
If you have any dietary concerns, please let us know in advance so we can explore options for you.
January is one of the best times to visit Oaxaca! It's breezy, warm (60s-70s), and sunny in the afternoons and calm and cool (40s-50s) in the evenings. We recommend hats, sunglasses, and light clothes for the daytime and layers (light sweaters!) for the evenings. The streets are cobblestone, so we encourage you to bring comfortable footwear for walking around town. For the wedding events, the theme is fun and colorful. Finally, remember your passport!
We’re aiming for fun and festive all weekend long! Welcome Party: Oaxacan Brights – Vibrant colors, bold prints, breezy fabrics, and shoes that can handle cobblestones. Wedding: Agave Formal – Elevated, expressive, with color and flair. You’ll be on a mountain mezcal farm, so bring layers and wear shoes that work on natural ground (no stilettos). Farewell Brunch: Come cozy, come cute – Casual and comfortable. Think linen, sandals, and sunglasses.
If you received a plus one, your guest's name will also be listed on your invitation and will appear when you RSVP. Otherwise, we would love to keep our wedding as an intimate event with close friends and family. Thank you for understanding.
While we love your little ones, we’ve decided to make our wedding an adults-only celebration. We hope you enjoy a night off and celebrate with us!
Yes! Round-trip transportation will be provided on Saturday to and from the wedding venue. Pickup times and locations will be shared closer to the date.
