Medicine Lake is one of our favorite lakes in the city, in every season. We usually go there to enjoy the beach, go stand-up paddling, fishing, and bike along the 14-mile trail in the summer; in the winter, we go ice fishing and cross-country skiing, not to mention the many walks with the dogs at different times of the year.
For Luma and Michael, the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is more than a beautiful destination, it is a place woven into the story of their relationship. Nestled among the gardens, winding paths, and the peaceful shores of Lake Como, it became a setting for quiet conversations, shared laughter, and memories made with the people they love most. Through every season, Como has offered its own kind of magic. Beneath the soaring glass dome of the historic Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, surrounded by tropical blooms and the fragrance of flowers, they found a little escape from the everyday world. The Conservatory, a beloved Saint Paul landmark since 1915, feels like stepping into a timeless garden where every visit invites wonder and connection. Some of their favorite dates were spent wandering hand in hand through the lush gardens, pausing to admire exotic plants, watching animals together at the zoo, and simply enjoying the beauty of a place that feels both adventurous and peaceful.
