We just happened to experience both... Luke was living in Boston, MA visiting a friend in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Lexi was living in Jupiter, FL visiting a friend that same weekend, same town. We ended up at a mutual friends pool party and the rest was destiny. We locked eyes in the shallow end of the pool, bonded over old Disney channel movies, shared stories, and laughed all day surrounded by our close friends. Two weeks later, we reunited in Chicago, where it became difficult to part ways. We were in Highlands, NC, where my family has been going for over 30 years. We went to my favorite place in town, Sunset Rock, to enjoy the sunset and a picnic overlooking the town. Luke suggested that we explore the mountain and went to his backpack to grab his jacket for me. He pulled out a box, knelt down on one knee, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. After many tears, initial shock, and laughter, I said YES, and we enjoyed a beautiful evening under the stars soaking up every moment. Fun Fact: Two days before our trip I sliced my left ring finger open. 5 stitches later, Luke had to put the ring on the wrong hand.
