FAQs

We hope to answer some of the things you might be thinking about or wondering with the below FAQ. If you have a question that isn't listed here, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Question

Where is the reception taking place?

Answer

The Hutton House 10715 S Shore Drive Medicine Lake, MN

Question

Are the ceremony and reception spaces accessible for guests with disabilities?

Answer

Yes.

Question

Is there parking?

Answer

Both sites (the church and the reception venue) have large, free parking lots. At the reception venue, you may also leave your car parked in the lot overnight, but it will need to be removed by 9:00 a.m. the following morning.

Question

I have a food allergy. Can I make a special request?

Answer

Please submit any dietary restrictions in your RSVP.

Question

I thought you got married last year?

Answer

November and December 2020 were peak times for COVID in the U.S. and around the world. We knew in the fall of 2020 that we wouldn't be able to have the big event we had originally planned and officially rescheduled with our vendors to December 30, 2021, but the future still looked extremely uncertain and there was no end in sight for the pandemic. On December 18, 2020 the Minnesota state government came out with new restrictions limiting all wedding ceremonies (with less limitations if held outside) and outlawing any accompanying celebration or reception. With this in mind, but also considering we might not be back to normal anytime soon, we made the difficult decision to get legally married on our original date. On December 30, 2020 we were legally married at an outdoor ceremony (our church was closed) with our immediate families and a few close friends. We kept safety measures in place and are happy to report no positive cases emerged after our event.

Question

What is this year's event?

Answer

Though we got legally married last year, it was not the day we originally planned and we deeply missed so many people we had expected to surround us on our wedding day. We also did not get to have a church ceremony, which was important for us. This year, we are moving forward with the formal ceremony we'd hoped to have and the celebration with the people who are important to us, at the places we originally chose.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes, if they are included on your RSVP form and if you'd like to bring them. We'd like it to be "parent's choice" -- if you have young children and want to bring them, great! If you prefer to leave them at home, that's great too! If you want to choose a middle ground (bring kids, but have them picked up early by a babysitter), we welcome that! If you'd like to bring your kids, stay late and party with us, and not have them picked up, we can work with that too -- we will have designated "kid space" upstairs and a few babysitters on site to keep them entertained (or keep an eye on them while they rest). If you're considering this option, please let us know so we can ensure we coordinate enough childcare! We also welcome a BYOB situation if you would like to bring your own babysitter ;) Just let us know!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We love love and want you to share our day with your loved one! If you have a special someone and your invitation did not indicate a plus one, please let us know so we can include them.

Question

What does "black-tie optional" mean?

Answer

We are going for a more formal vibe, but we do not want you to feel like you have to get a new outfit or rent a tux! If you want to, great. If not, that's totally fine. Please wear whatever you're most comfortable wearing.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

If you'd like to stay near our reception venue, there are a few options. Please check our Travel page for more info on hotel blocks.

Question

What if my plans change?

Answer

Should your plans change at any point after you RSVP, please let us know at stennesbasilwedding@gmail.com.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We do plan to have other optional events. These are coming soon -- please check back on the Schedule page!

Question

What COVID-19 precautions will you have in place?

Answer

We would prefer if all guests were vaccinated or tested the week of our wedding. If you need suggestions on where to get tested in Minnesota, please let us know and we can provide some guidance!

Question

I have to work on December 30. Is it ok if I arrive late?

Answer

Absolutely! We understand that getting married on a weekday presents certain challenges. If you need to miss our ceremony and meet us at the reception, that is completely fine.

Question

Will you be providing any transportation?

Answer

At this time we do not plan to provide shuttles.

Question

Where can I see the video from December 30, 2020?

Answer

The livestream footage is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HvIuS1DPihzaMuh8pHwgWIh7424NqMxG/view
