Most of the Tulum community is cash only (taxis, restaurants, bars included). There are ATMs along the beach but we highly recommend taking cash out at a trusted ATM at the Cancun airport or the bank in Tulum Town. You will get a better rate if you pay in pesos over US dollars but both are accepted.
The phone service in Tulum is typically pretty poor. Most places have free Wi-Fi but it's also not great. Enjoy being disconnected! Alternatively, your mobile provider may have International Mexico options or get an international SIM card. A great tool to stay connected while in Tulum in WhatsApp. You can call, text and video for free just by being connected to wifi.
A lot of hotels and rentals offer free bikes. There is a bike path that runs from downtown to the southern beach area - it takes around 15-20 minutes to go one way. Cabs are also a good option, but can sometimes be hard to flag one down. Your hotel should be able to help though. Consider taking cabs throughout the evening because the roads by the beach aren't lit up at night.
The attire is beachy luxe. We do suggest wearing shoes that you can easily remove as both wedding and reception will be on the sand.
We highly recommend getting a Covid-19 test before arriving to Tulum to ensure everyone can safely gather and celebrate! All US and Australian citizens will also require a negative Covid-19 test before returning to the US or Australia. Most hotels are able to provide this for a small fee. All wedding events will be outside and Covid-19 precautions will be taken, but we strongly encourage guests to be vaccinated before attending wedding events.
