How We Met

4/12/16

It all began when my friend asked me to find a date so that I could accompany him on a double date. I instantly knew who I would ask, as I had my eye on a beautiful girl in government class. I started making my way from the back of the class one row at a time to the front row where Sasha sat. Eventually I couldn't take the suspense and on a Tuesday, I met Sasha in the hallway and introduced myself. - Luke One day I noticed that this boy I kept making eye contact with was in a different row every class. I wasn't sure what he was doing, and I wouldn't let myself believe it was for me. I had been scheming with a friend on what I would say to him if I ever got the chance. Finally, my chance came as he ended up in my row. I chickened out and didn't say anything but I remember him saying something like " Your glasses are cute". So I told myself "okay say something after class". When class was over he made his way to the back of the lecture hall and was waiting, "Is he waiting for me?" I thought-- and yes, he was. I chickened out again, made awkward eye contact and continued on my way. Thankfully, he ran after me in the hallway, introduced himself, and asked me out as a "Plus one" (what even is that?) all in one day. Sheepishly I said "Uh, sure!". April 15th 2016, we went on our first date to the Dallas Museum of Art and on the drive over immediately clicked. I tripped in my heels walking out of the parking lot and almost fell completely on my butt, embarrassed is an understatement (Sasha). But she gracefully managed the fall and wound up performing what looked to me like the world's prettiest pirouette (Luke). I remember looking up at him embarrassed but thinking, "he could be the one", and from that point on he never let my hand go (Sasha). And from that time on, I've never stopped falling for her (Luke).

The proposal

7/21/18

It was 105 degrees out. I walked along a row of wooden planks, placing candles and rose petals every few steps. My phone was buzzing every other second with friends and family sending love and asking questions. My hands were shaking, and my mind was racing. Two years of dating, loving and praying gave me confidence in her answer; but the seed of doubt was sown deep down and shook my very core. With her ring in my pocket and my heart on my sleeve, I knocked on the door to pick her up. We went on a date to one of our favorite restaurants, the Italian Cafe. She was severely thrown off because before the date, I had her sister suggest wearing none-other than nike shorts and a T-shirt. Then, while on the date, her best friend Abbie asked her what she was up to. After dinner I took Sasha to her favorite hidden gem where I had the walkway lined with rose petals, tea-light candles, our memory box, and hid her best friend Hannah to capture the moment. At the end of the walkway I got down on one knee and asked Sasha to spend forever with me. She said yes.
