Our Journey Together

From Late-Night Talks to Lifelong Adventures: The Story of Luke and Lindsey

Luke and Lindsey's story began in an unexpected way. Their first date was at RulaBula, where they ended up staying for last call, completely engrossed in conversation. Not wanting the night to end, they headed to Waffle House, where they talked about everything under the sun until the sun came up. By the time they finished breakfast, it was 7 a.m., and they both knew this was just the beginning. Shortly after they met, life threw them a curveball: COVID-19. Lindsey, wanting to spend more time with Luke, not-so-sneakily moved in with him. It didn't take long for Luke's roommate to notice—about three months in, when Lindsey started bringing her dogs over. They officially moved in together soon after, relocating to Downtown Phoenix, where they built a home filled with laughter, love, and the occasional dog chaos. After two years in Phoenix, an opportunity arose for a move to Atlanta, and without hesitation, they took it—sight unseen. It was a tough transition to a new city, but they discovered a shared love for Jimmy Buffett, Wings, and Ludacris, who seemed to pop up everywhere they went. The blend of new adventures and familiar favorites helped them settle in. Living in Georgia also reignited their passion for hiking and backpacking. They took several trips along the Appalachian Trail, but the most memorable was a challenging hike in the Smoky Mountains. Luke suggested a last-minute, steep five-mile trek to Shuckstack Fire Tower. Lindsey, already tired, agreed to the hike. Once at Shuckstack, Luke had Lindsey go ahead of him up the tower, which he never did. Lindsey got a little suspicious that Luke was going to propose and kept her back to Luke to allow him to have the moment. When Luke got down on one knee, Lindsey's heart raced. She began to cry, but then Luke paused and dug through his pockets. For a moment, she thought it was a fake-out. But when he pulled out his phone and played "Life is a Highway," she laughed through her tears, realizing this was the real deal. They embraced the excitement of engagement and soon made another move—this time to Flagstaff, Arizona, where they continue to build their life together, filled with love, adventure, and plenty of new memories yet to come.
