We first met at the stadium of fire that takes place at LaVell Edwards Stadium every fourth of July. Luke had plans to go with his brother, his brothers girlfriend Katherine, and his good friend Tyler. They had one extra ticket when he invited me. I wasn't really sure, but thought, "Hey, Carrie Underwood is singing this year!!! SURE!". At the end of the show he walked me to my car, and we've naturally gravitated towards each other ever since.

I was living in Washington, and Luke flew me down to Salt Lake for the weekend. I missed my early morning flight by just a few minutes, and kind of messed up his plans for the day, but was still able to make it there by 4 o'clock pm. Luke picked me up from the airport, and we drove south for about 2 hours. We ended up at his dad's place in Holden, Utah. We drove out into the property, and out in the distance I saw the dock that leads out to pond lit up in lights, and covered with roses. He walked me out to the end of the dock, and led me to a bench that had a blanket, and a bouquet of roses. We sat there for a minute, and then Luke shared with me a journal entry he had made after we first met, about how excited he was, and his overall hopes and goals for how things would go between us. After that he got on a knee, shared a few really sweet words, and then after I said YES! his dad lit off HUGE fireworks over the back of the pond! It was SO perfect because, fireworks have kind of been our thing since first meeting on the 4th of July.
