Our Story

Kaitlin and Luke met at Gonzaga University in 2018. At a residential life leadership conference, they both tried to figure out how they kept ending up in the same room all day - until they realized that they were both trying to get each other’s attention. Luke kept asking Kaitlin what session she was going to next, and then answering “Oh, that’s where I was going too!” Worried that he would seem creepy, he decided to go to a different talk for the last session of the day - leaving Kaitlin to wonder if the vibe she had been feeling all day wasn’t there. A few days later, Kaitlin slid into Luke’s DMs commenting on their mutual love of elephants. Luke stopped playing video games (for those of you who know Luke well, this is impressive) and sprinted across Gonzaga’s campus, in 450 air quality smoky weather, to show his friends. He was so shocked that the cute girl from residence life had messaged him. Needless to say, Luke took advantage of this to ask Kaitlin on their first date - which Kaitlin then proceeded to cancel. Luke was persistent, though, and they went on their first date just a few days later. Their morning coffee date ended up at a cupcake shop (Kaitlin’s favorite - Luke found a cupcake shop open in the mornings just for her). It then turned into an eight-hour date where, unsurprisingly, Luke convinced Kaitlin to try out virtual reality at the Gonzaga Tech Bar, and, in return, the date ended with Kaitlin convincing Luke to set up her printer. They knew from their first date that they were in it for the long haul. Since college, Kaitlin and Luke have supported each other through new jobs, moves, and a pandemic, and have found home together in their North Seattle house. They love paddleboarding together, playing board games, enjoying book club with many Gonzaga friends, going to Costco, spending time with family and friends, and exploring the food scene in Seattle. In the last few years, they have traveled across the world together, going to Switzerland, Italy, Iceland, Hawaii, and Kaitlin’s favorite place, the Oregon Coast. The Oregon Coast ended up being the perfect place for Luke to pop the question this fall - of course, with Kaitlin’s Maid of Honor, Shyla, disguised in the rocks to capture the moment. Whether you know one of them from childhood, met them at Gonzaga, or have recently gotten to know them as a couple, they are so excited to celebrate with you!
