Leopold’s Ice Cream was founded in 1919 by three brothers from Greece. They learned the art of candy and dessert making from an uncle who had already settled in America. George, Peter and Basil Leopold perfected their secret formulas and created the now world famous Leopold’s Ice Cream.
From fine dining to adult slushies to can’t-miss festivals, this famous cobble-stone street has something for everyone. At any given time, you can find yourself being serenaded with live music, watching the beautiful sunset over the Savannah River, or taken aback by the sweet smells of freshly-made candy.
Tybee Island is a barrier island and small city near Savannah, Georgia. It’s known for its wide, sandy beaches, including South Beach, with a pier and pavilion. This is where Joan vacationed as a child. It is still a very special place to her and a lovely beach to visit.
Spanning more than 30 acres, Forsyth Park is Savannah’s largest and oldest public park. It contains walking paths, a children's play area, a Fragrant Garden for the blind, a large fountain, tennis courts, basketball courts, areas for soccer and Frisbee, and home field for Savannah Shamrocks Rugby Club. From time to time, there are concerts held at Forsyth to the benefit of the public.
