Alright everyone—the day has come. I always figured I’d get married someday, but I never imagined I’d be lucky enough to marry someone as kind, brilliant, and special as Hop. She’s so smart, in fact, she gave me a little corner of this website to say my piece. So here it goes. My love for Hop can only be compared to a few great romances in this life: #1: George Jones and alcohol. The man loved it so much, he once rode a lawnmower—yes, a John Deere—to the liquor store after the police took his driver’s license. Iconic behavior. Legendary devotion. That’s how I feel about Hop. #2: Elvis Presley and the peanut butter banana sandwich. The King found peace and comfort in that sandwich like it was a warm blanket for the soul. I like to think when Elvis took that last bite, he felt calm. Complete. I never understood that feeling—until I met ole Hop. #3: A tip of the hat to Fran and Jimmy, Ma and Dad. They showed me the value of marrying your best friend and keeping love and excitement alive through anything. They taught me what it means to value a partner like Hop. Here are my final thoughts: I’d ride a John Deere to the ends of the earth for her. She’s my calm. My best friend. My favorite sandwich. And no matter how many Ohio overnights I have— I’ll always have Hop on my mind.
