The only time Luke and I's paths crossed was during our Honors Senior Seminar in the Fall of our senior year in college. Luke frequently recalls to me that during class, I was oblivious to the occasional look that he stole when I wasn't paying attention (okay, maybe more than occasional). Our paths started crossing more often when Luke began messaging me on Instagram. After multiple attempts, Luke finally established an ongoing conversation when he slyly asked for my number to keep up our chat. Little did I know, he was testing my interest. After a day of texting back and forth, he asked me if it was alright to call and I had a feeling he was about to make a move. His old-fashioned phone call left me swooning, and I agreed to go to dinner with him on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020. The first date was perfect and unforgettable because it was the first intentional day with the love of my life. Not to mention the fancy Mexican restaurant we went to. Mexican is one of our favorite types of food! Our conversations were effortless and we figured out that we shared many similarities! And that was it. From that day forward I spent every day with Luke until he officially asked me to be his girlfriend on November 8th. I got sent home from college 2 weeks early because of a COVID exposure, and then we didn't see each other but one time over 2 months. We facetimed every day and still got to know each other so well from a distance. Facetime movie dates were one of a kind! Getting to be back in person with Luke was the best feeling in the whole world! Since then, we haven't spent that much time apart from each other and now I'm beyond excited for waking up and coming home to each other every day.
Sweet Hannah and I started dating in November of 2020. By January 2021, I told her I wanted to marry her. In March I hatched my grand plan to propose. We have a friend named Kate, who takes the most amazing pictures you've ever seen. Maybe she'll end up taking pictures for famous people someday. Kate was the key to my grand plan; well, that and a ring of course. I asked Kate if she would help me out with something big-I wanted to trick Hannah into saying yes to a photo shoot in the Adirondacks without realizing it was her engagement. Kate was happy to help! She sent us a group text asking if we would be models for a photoshoot. She claimed that she really wanted photos from the Adirondacks (which she did) and that Hannah and I were the perfect couple to model for them (which we were). We agreed, and Hannah was so excited. I was too, but for different reasons. Months passed and I prepared diligently for the day to come. Hannah had unknowingly picked the location a few days before when she showed me a road that had incredible views. Sunrises are Sweet Hannah's favorite, so I wanted to propose during one. We wanted to take pictures in Keene Valley, which was almost three hours from where we were staying. To begin the next day with a sunrise, we would have had to wake up at 2am and drive that amount of time to reach the sunset. Hannah suggested we wait until the next morning when we could wake up much later, but she had no idea that I wanted to propose before we took all our pictures. I convinced Kate to suggest we do Saturday, and Hannah finally caved. We were up at 2am and out the door by 3. I drove two and a half hours through rain, hydroplaning, and fog along the dark, twisty Northway. We scouted our location and found the perfect spot. Kate gave me a signal when her camera was ready. I pointed to a distant mountain, claiming it was on fire. Hannah looked, and I got down on one knee. "Hey, Hannah," I called. We all know what happened next.
