On a Wednesday night in the middle of winter, I was with my friends at a downtown St. Cloud bar sending my girlfriend Melanie(Bridesmaid) off on her adventure to Arizona where she would live for 5 months. Her coworker, whom we also attended high school with was going away on his honeymoon as well, so we decided to have a joint party. As fate would have it, Luke was said coworker's roommate at the time and almost chose not to attend. Sitting there at the table, the guy across from me was attempting to flirt, but Luke swooped in with his charm and sparkly blue eyes and I was instantly hooked. By the end of the night I had given him my phone number and it was just a couple days later that he asked me on a date:) He took me ice skating at the SCSU rink and held my hand as I wobbled my way around. I managed not to fall on my butt! He, of course, was showing off all his fancy skills.
Luke and I were home in MN for the third time this year to attend the wedding of a college friend. We arrived a few days early and planned to have our own romantic weekend in Herbster, WI at his family's little cottage. On our day-date in Bayfield, we had lunch at Maggie's, one of our favorite restaurants, and took the ferry to Madeline Island for exploring and ice cream. When we returned to Herbster, Luke insisted we take a walk on the beach before the sun went down. The clouds had covered up the sunset, but it was still so beautiful on the shore of Lake Superior. We walked along the empty beach, and at one point my back was turned. When I turned around he was down on his knee and had removed his hat(that's a big deal!) and asked "will you be mine foreva eva?"
