Great place to get food & groceries near the campsite.
Hahns Peak Roadhouse
The only restaurant North of Steamboat! Wild West saloon vibe.
Steamboat Lake State Park
Beautiful high country lake with equally beautiful views of the nearby Elkhead and Park mountain ranges. Swim, SUP, kayak, or fish for trout!
Pearl Lake State Park
Smaller and a bit more secluded than Steamboat Lake. Fantastic views of Farwell Mountain and smaller, unnamed peaks. Grayling and Cutthroat trout are abundant.
Gilpin Lake/Zirkel Circle
9.7 mile out & back hike to an incredible lake near treeline. Pack a lunch and make a half-day of it! You'll also have the option to complete the 'Zirkel Circle' instead of doing an out & back, with opportunities to stop along the way at both Gold Creek and Three Island lakes before returning to the trailhead. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/gilpin-lake-trail
Mica Basin
From the same trailhead you'd use to get to Gilpin Lake, hang a left after about a mile of hiking to head up to this peaceful basin if you want to encounter a few less other people on the trail. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/mica-basin-trail
Strawberry Park Hot Springs
A wintertime favorite that is still so much fun even during the warmer months. Don't let the steep gravel road scare you - they grade it pretty often and any car can make it. Clothing optional after dark! Go For a Ride!
There are a handful of intermediate, half-day rides that can be strung together right from the campsite in North Routt, but there are more miles than you'll have time for if you head back toward Steamboat. Ask us for recommendations... these are our favorite trails in the world! Trailforks will be handy to download before arriving (no cell reception East of Clark).
Get Fishy
Ask us for specifics and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction! Bring your spinning rod to cast from the bank around one of the lakes in the area, or tie on a dry and wet wade up the North Fork of the Elk right from Seedhouse Campground.
