How They Met

Apple Orchards, Convenience Stores, and Happily Ever After

Luke and Diane both worked at Casey's, the famous Midwest gas station and convenience store, with apparently the "best pizza". Luke had been there for about 5 years when Diane started, wanting a job to fill in the gaps while in college. Luke worked in the kitchen, taking orders, making pizzas, and delivering. Diane worked up front at the register, also dealing with the same customers who bought pizza and lottery tickets everyday. One day, Diane got the courage to talk with Luke a bit more, more than the "I have the drawer counted up now, so we can leave." One of the first commonalities was a yearly trip to Sunrise Apple Orchards in WI. Both families go to the orchards for fresh apples and treats. After a few days of awkward conversations, both trying to impress each other, they finally went on their first date to IHOP. They had their pancakes and eggs and from there, the adventure began. Diane continued with college and got her master's degree and a job in therapy. Luke switched work to Sam's Club, and started up his own eBay business. They also got a pup named Ernie who tested their patience, but overall added more joy. Finally, about 5 years later, Luke decided he "wasn't getting any younger" and took Diane to the apple orchards. On a cloudy fall day, Luke got on one knee and asked the question "Do you want to do this?" The moment was perfect, exciting, emotional, and the beginning of the next chapter. Now, with wedding preparations and continued support through their daily lives, they couldn't be more excited or happier. Luke and Diane want to thank everyone for taking part in their story, supporting them, and celebrating their special day.
