I was at a meditation retreat at Crescent Lake eating dinner with the group when the door opened and this beautiful man walked in. We locked eyes the moment he looked up and just stared at each other for a few heartbeats. I felt like I'd been struck by lightning! We spent the weekend awkwardly moving around each other through the retreat, but then the last night we danced together and the way we moved together felt like magic. We didn't really talk after that, but the next day as the retreat closed and everyone was saying good-bye, we hugged a hug that lasted for noticeably too long and I knew he was going to play a part in my life forever. -Desiree
Luke wanted to plan a big trip for Des's birthday and then propose to her on a romantic evening during the trip. His first idea was to take her to Big Sur for a Big Sur-prise, as he and the kids called it. But alas massive flooding and landslides in California wiped out the path along highway 1 so he had to dig deep for a new idea. He thought, what about a trip to the Southwest. He decided to have them fly into Phoenix, rent a convertible, and speed up (at the speed limit mostly) to Sedona. There they would stay and then take a day trip and try to hike to the bottom of the grand canyon and back. What a hike! But for the proposal he decided to take her to one of the magical vortices in the area---Cathedral Vortex. He was so excited as they made their way up the hill, slowly working their sore muscles from the day before back into movement to climb the hills. Luke asked her if she wanted to meditate on the rocks, and she said her first yes of the evening. Then as the sun was setting, he leaned over from the meditation and asked the big question. They were both literally and figuratively on top of the world at that moment.
