It was mid Spring 2017, and the Buckingham fountain had just been turned on. We met online through Tinder, and didn't waste any time getting to know each other. When we first started talking, Craig was just about to go on a trip to LA with some friends for his birthday (you should ask him about how much he loves LA sometime). Once he got back, we decided to meet in an amicable place, out in public (it was the O/G internet dating days back when people were afraid to meet internet dates in real life). Luke was working at University of Chicago at a Bioinformatics research lab, and Craig was at Echo (where we both work now!). Craig sent Luke about 4 or 5 "where are you" texts asking where he was, even though Luke kept telling him he was 5-10 minutes away. That definitely wasn't true. Luke Lived in LakeView, but worked on the South Side on 55th St. He thought he could make it from the South side to Lakeview and back downtown in 30 minutes. Luke wanted to impress Craig. For some unknown reason, Craig actually waited around an hour and 20 minutes later to see Luke pull up in an Uber and sprint out of it to find him. The date started with meeting in front of the fountain, walking the lakefront, and grabbing a beer on the river walk and sitting and talking while looking at the skyscrapers and boats pass by while we talked the hours away. The rest is history.
