Getting There - Rental Cars & Shuttle
If you’re renting a car from Denver International Airport, it will be a 1 hour and 45 min drive along I-70 and up and over the spectacular Berthoud Pass. Once through the city of Denver, it is a majestic drive into the Rocky Mountains. During the peak summer weekends, expect some congestion along I-70 around Floyd Hill. Once you reach Idaho Springs and US-40, the traffic generally thins out allowing you to enjoy the beauty as you climb up to over 11,000 feet at the top of the pass. If you’d rather leave the driving to someone else, Grand Mountain Rides (970-531-4702, http://www.grandmountainrides.com/ ) and Home James Express (833-2RIDE-WP, https://www.ridehj.com/) have regular daily shuttles and will drop off in Winter Park or at Devil’s Thumb Ranch. They are also available for private scheduling.
