Cameron and Luke's journey began just a month into their freshman year at the University of Arizona. Their "bigs" in their respective sororities and fraternities, who were best friends, conspired to bring them together. Initially, both Cameron and Luke were preoccupied with their new college lives and brushed off their "bigs'" attempts to introduce them. However, when September rolled around Luke's fraternity planned their "Weekender" trip to Lake Havasu, the pressure was on for him to find a date. Their "bigs" recognized this as the perfect opportunity. After a few days of dodging the topic, Cameron agreed to hang out with Luke to see if she’d consider going on the trip. They decided to hike "A" Mountain that Wednesday. What was meant to be a quick hike turned into hours of talking at the top of the mountain. Clearly it went well and they quickly became inseparable. By Friday, Luke jumped into the car and accompanied Cameron to her hair appointment in Scottsdale, and by Saturday, he attended her sorority’s date dash. On Sunday, he even met her parents during a dinner with her friends. October brought their trip to Lake Havasu, where they created unforgettable memories. By the end of the month, they officially began dating. Throughout their time at U of A, they immersed themselves in each other's worlds, attending numerous sorority and fraternity events, forming a close-knit friend group, taking classes together (with Luke doing most of the work), eating their way through Tucson’s amazing restaurants, and traveling to many amazing places together (16 countries in counting from Europe to the Caribbean to Central America!). After four incredible years at U of A, Luke and Cameron took on the challenge of a long-distance relationship to pursue their individual goals. Cameron moved to New York City to pursue a career in fashion, while Luke relocated to New Mexico to advance his education in medical school. Travel became essential during this period, as they made every effort to visit each other. After a few years of long distance, Luke was placed in Tucson to finish medical school. At this point, he asked Cameron to move in with him, marking a full-circle moment as they went back to the city where they first met. This year together brought many new discoveries about one another—like Luke's aversion to making the bed and Cameron’s slight shopping addiction. Despite the quirks, they loved this new chapter of building their little home. After a year of living together, Luke orchestrated a beautiful surprise proposal. To Cameron’s knowledge, Luke decided at the last minute to join in on her annual trip to San Diego to celebrate the 4th of July with their friends Katie and Cole. Unbeknownst to her, Luke and Katie had been planning this surprise for a while. On July 5th, they headed to La Jolla for brunch but made a pit stop at a coffee shop. After getting coffee, they walked down to a secluded cove to enjoy a stunning view of the ocean. As Cameron chatted away, Luke dropped down to one knee, prompting a moment of confusion before she realized what was happening. Luke had to ask multiple times before she fully grasped the surprise, leading to what he refers to as her "best-worst reaction." After the shock wore off, they celebrated with friends and family, ending the day with an engagement photoshoot on Blacks Beach and dinner at Eddie V's. After eight years together, Cameron and Luke have had the privilege of witnessing each other grow and sharing in life’s most memorable moments, which has only strengthened their relationship. As they prepare to say "I DO," they eagerly anticipate what's ahead in their next chapter!
