It’s crazy to think we met when Luke was in the United States working for The Walt Disney Company during a Cultural Representative Program. We met at a group function. Both of us were very nervous and shy but once we started talking we found numerous similarities. Both of us were hesitant because when we met Luke was about half-way through his program and we knew he would be going back to the United Kingdom in September of 2023. After the initial three months of getting to know each other, likes, dislikes, passions, job expectations, and realistic standards we communicated that long distance was hard but worth it. We spent frequent time together until his program ended by doing dates nights, cooking, calling family members, and loving on our dog Ireland. Once Luke’s visa was over, we flew to England and I spent a week meeting his family, learning about his culture, and traveling around the UK and Ireland with Luke enjoying every moment. Upon returning to the United States without Luke and from the span of September, 2023 to now we have been in constant contact talking every day on the phone, and intentionally planning trips to ensure we can see one another in person. We celebrated birthdays together and much time was spent fostering our relationship and traveling to Georgia to meet my parents and brother. Continuing our close communication of FaceTiming almost every day and constant texts, we managed to power through till our next in person meeting in June, 2024 when I came to the UK and Ireland on a holiday that both myself and my family took. Both our families got to meet each other in person and all got to spend quality time together. At the time I did not know that he had asked my parents for their blessing to ask my hand in marriage on this trip, but since getting engaged he told me this was when he asked for forever with me. On September 19th was the day he asked me to marry him. In the airport terminal C of MCO he got down on one knee and asked me to be his other half forever. After saying yes, we wanted to give a unique and family type experience to show our genuine love and care towards one another and towards those who have all supported us! We love each and everyone that will be able to attend, or even if you’re not able to we still love yall! -Ashleigh
