In the early hours of September 17th, 2020, God led Hope and Luke to the UNK fountain. Neither had a reason to be there that late at night—except for His perfect timing. From the very beginning, Luke was drawn to Hope. Hope played hard to get for weeks—but eventually, Luke’s unwavering charm and gentle persistence won her heart. On October 21st, 2020, Hope set aside her hesitation, and they shared their first date—a new chapter beginning. As the days turned into weeks, their connection deepened, and on November 10th, 2020, Luke asked Hope to officially be his girlfriend. She said yes, and from that moment, their love only grew stronger. Over the years, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and shared memories—cheering on the Huskers, spending weekends at Luke’s family cabin on Calamus Lake, and embracing time with loved ones. They supported each other through every season. Luke stood by Hope through the rigors of nursing school—endless late-night study sessions, was a shoulder for all of the post-exam tears, and still listened to the clinical stories that made his stomach turn. Hope, in turn, stood beside Luke through the heartbreaking loss of his beloved mother, Ashli, to aggressive brain cancer, offering comfort and strength when words weren’t enough. Together, they weathered every storm, holding tightly to the love God had placed in their hearts. In 2024, they graduated college—Luke becoming a teacher at Lexington Middle School and a varsity basketball coach at LHS, and Hope beginning her journey as an ICU nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. After a year of growing both professionally and personally, Luke asked the most important question of his life. On May 10th, 2025, he asked Hope to marry him—and she said yes.
