Maid of Honor
My friendship with Jess first began as lab partners in the chemistry labs of Melbourne University at the start of our undergraduate studies way back in 2012. So you could say, there is a lot of chemistry between Jess and me. However, after more than 7 years, it is time for me to concede that Jess shares a stronger bond with someone else. And as her Maid of Honour, like her lab partner, I will help research, gather materials and meticulously plan for this day. Hopefully, however, unlike in 2012, we both will know what is going on and what we’re meant to be doing.
Best Man
I started out just annoying Jamie in high school, but our relationship would soon blossom into a beautiful bromance. Some of my best memories from uni and since are us playing Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, messing stuff up in the lab and falsifying results, “studying” together, eating ‘second dinners’, and hanging out til irresponsible hours. We share a sense of humour and I’m the one Jamie wishes he were with when Jess doesn’t provide the appreciation his jokes deserve. I may not be the one Jamie’s marrying, but we’re going on a boys trip the weekend after the wedding so infer from that what you will.
Bridesmaid
I first met Jess and Jamie in high school and well from there, we became the three musketeers - or in modern terms, Triple J. I was more of the hyperactive, spontaneous J that enjoyed to explore the non-dentistry side of life as well as love cute Japanese bears and Kpop stars. I’ve managed to bring joy and laughter into third wheeling Jess and Jamie’s dates and will continue to do so after they get married, after all we are a Triple J family and that it’s tradition that we stay together - plus it provides many opportunities for me to persuade them to get a puppy that can befriend my dog Tofu.
Groomsman
I’m one of Jamie’s younger brothers and his obvious favourite. Despite the butting of heads growing up as siblings, I've grown up following Jamie all my life. Stubbornly admitting that Jamie is one of my biggest role models, however, clearly not the tallest. He’s had a deep rooted influence on my life, from guiding the development of my hobbies and interests to me still being afraid of the dark. Sharing many treasured memories ranging from elderly advice and brotherly banter to the late night Super Smash Bros sessions. To this day, I continue to follow him. Again, best younger brother.
Bridesmaid
Even though Jessica and I both attended the same high school, it wasn’t until uni that we got to know each other through our boyfriends, Jamie and Tony. One of my earliest memories of Jessica was when I thought I had offended her after pretending not to know her name back in high school, but it wasn’t a big deal because I was almost certain that we would never see each again after that. Never would I have imagined that years later we would be going on double dates, or that Tony and I would be invited over to their house for dinner every other week, and we’d stay up late talking until 2am. And most of all, I never would have imagined that Jessica would end up asking me to be one of her bridesmaids.
Groomsman
The real favourite brother here. While being the mumma's boy that incited a lot of anger in our younger years, we still developed a strong relationship through anime and Super Smash Bros, resulting in countless laughs and the ‘occasional’ bitter moments which will stay with us forever. Jamie is someone I have always looked up to for his amazing leadership, always staying in control and knowing what to do. He continues to be an inspiration to me and serves as my idol academically, socially, and in every other aspect.
