FAQs

Question

What should I wear for the ceremony?

Answer

Just in case you were wondering what to wear we give you a few suggestions. For the girls, a long, formal dress (gown) is perfect for the wedding, feel free to add a pop of color! For the guys, a formal suit and tie is the way to go. We want you to feel comfortable and stylish!

Question

Currency

Answer

The Bolivian currency is the Boliviano, 1 US dollar ($) is equivalent to 9.5 Bolivianos, as of March 2026. Exchange rates fluctuate, so it's recommended to check the exchange rate before making a transaction. You can safely use your credit card in restaurants, shops, etc, but we recommend always having bolivianos in your wallet. We can arrange to exchange your dollars for bolivianos as well.

Question

How's the climate in August?

Answer

Santa Cruz is tropical, so expect sunshine and heat! If you're planning to head to La Paz or the Salt Flats in Oruro, don't forget to pack a sweater or two - Bolivia’s winter falls in the middle of the year, it's still chilly near the mountains.

Question

Language Preparation

Answer

Time to brush up on your Spanish! Don't expect everyone to speak English (Some Uber drivers and waiters might not!). Keep Google Translate handy to facilitate your time in Bolivia. And who knows, you might even pick up some new phrases to impress your friends back home!

Question

Transportation in Bolivia

Answer

Uber is a great way to get around Santa Cruz - it's quick, easy, and affordable! Drivers prefer cash, so make sure to have some bolivianos handy. If you need to exchange dollars to bolivianos, don't hesitate to contact the wedding planner. If you're not familiar with the area, don't worry as the distances are short and the drivers are friendly. From the airport, we recommend taking the taxis that are available outside the airport. These are very safe and please let them know where your hotel or Airbnb is located.
