Luis and Yazmin met through Jorge, her older brother, many years before they started dating. Jorge and Luis are college friends and members Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity. Although Luis does not remember, it’s believed Yamin and Luis first met at Jorge’s 21st birthday celebration at Jorge parent’s house in 2004. In May of 2010, Jorge invited Luis and Flavio, to the big annual TepaAbril Fest in Jorge’s home town of Tepatitlan, Jalisco. Tepatitlan is a neighboring city to Capilla de Milpillas, hometown where Luis’ father is from. On this trip, Jorge’s family including Yazmin attended this festival. In 2011, Luis, German, Jorge, and Jorge’s Family, became season ticket holder to Tijuana’s Xoloitzcuintles in 2011 when they made it to the first division. On September 19, 2014, Apple announce the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus where Luis posted a side by side picture comparison of the new iPhones and Yazmin asked ” @lsantana18 the iPhone 6 Plus came out already??” on his instagram feed. Luis replied with a smart reply, “@ysandoval_10 Yes, it came out today 🙂 where have you been hehe,” and began a friendly exchange of messages through instagram and eventually text messages. Although, the stories vary depending on who you ask, one version of the next story remains a debate between the couple…. On September 19, 2014, the movie “Cantinflas” came out in Mexico and Luis wanted to see this cultural film of a famous mexican comedian. Who invited who to the film will remain a debate. Luis likes to tell his version of the story where Yazmin had purposely invited herself to watch the film with him. Where Yazmin likes to share that it was Luis who invited her to see the film. Either way, On September 27, 2014, Luis and Yazmin planned to view this film and undoubtedly was the start of a romantic courtship.

Between December 12-16, 2014 Luis, Yazmin and her family travelled to Leon, Guanajuato to attend her cousin Selene’s college graduation. Luis, Yazmin and Blanca travelled to the neighboring city of Guanajuato, Guanajuato to take on the tourist sites. And on December 14, 2014, Luis asked Yazmin to be his girlfriend in the famous Callejon del Beso at the top of the famous balcony. Luis was very happy that she accepted, otherwise, it would have made for a long and uncomfortable plane ride back.

Approximately, 4 years later, on August 14, 2018, Luis, Yazmin and friends travelled to Oaxaca, Mexico. Luis had visited this place before and considered it one of his favorite locations in all of Mexico. He knew this would be the special place and planned to make this memorable. He arrived few days earlier to strategize and make his arrangements. In Luis fashion, he created a plan A, B, C, with no help from his friends, on how to make it memorable. It didn’t help his friends absolutely didn’t plan for anything prior the trip, which made the planning that much more difficult. On August 16, 2018, Luis got on one knee and ask Yazmin to marry him.
