Game On!

#NoIdea #WhereItBegan

If you ask them where they met, they will answer "No Idea." Unfortunately, this amazing, understated-stated and admittedly somewhat dingy NYC bar is no longer open. However, it will never be forgotten by these two who shared their first drink, their first game and then later took their first leap to a life together by getting engaged there (or where it used to be). While they may have No Idea what the future will hold for them, they do know they will be tackling every bit of it together!

His Story: Learning to Tie

#JailTime #NeverFinished

In Thao I found someone who loves competing as much as I do. For her, it's less about winning and losing and more about enjoying the game and the company. We've been sparring since our first date: Words With Friends, pool, darts, tic-tac-toe, monopoly, you name it. Before her, when games ended in draws, I would be left feeling like something was incomplete which was a terrible feeling. In the 4 years I've dated Thao, more games have ended in a tie with her than in my entire life combined. Recently, we played a monopoly game that lasted 4 days (I landed in jail 17 times!). At the end of the 4th day we just packed it up and called it a well fought battle. I have met my match! She has taught me patience, how to slow down and appreciate the time we put into anything together. I have gone from dreading inconclusiveness to looking forward to the countless games to come.

Her Story: Crayon Date

#NoRescheduling #Creativity

I knew Luis was a keeper on our second date. It had been a couple of weeks since our first date and we were both excited about round 2. Unfortunately, he came up with a cold the day of, and lost his voice in the middle of the work day. I was happy to reschedule, but this relentless man insisted that it wouldn't be necessary. We met at a lounge later that evening and sure enough, he was barely audible. When he saw that his voice wasn't getting any better he took out a box of crayons and index cards he had prepared ahead of time. We proceeded to have our entire second date communicating through colorful notes. It was fun, creative and so different. He was definitely getting a date #3.

For all the days along the way
