How We Met

Olivia's Side of the Story

It all started when I got a new job at Vivint Smart Home. My first day was at the beginning of November in 2016. I would be working on a technical support call team under a wonderful supervisor. You guessed it, Luis Pineda. Listen, I know how this looks right off the bat, but nothing romantic happened between us until way later... except maybe some very low-key flirting. Most of that time we were dating other people and would even talk to each other about our other relationships. I realized I wasn’t really cut out for the call center life and I probably would’ve quit way sooner if it wasn’t for my awesome supervisor. In July of 2017, I got a position in a different department at Vivint. I’d be starting and leaving Luis’s team in two weeks. At the time, I wasn’t really considering dating Luis, although I had a crush on him (how cliché am I?). That being said, I genuinely wanted to keep in touch with him because we had become good friends, so I nervously added him on Snapchat, thanks to the encouragement of my bff and Vivint coworker Anisha. Anisha said she got vibes that Luis liked me in a romantic way, but I did’t believe her. Almost immediately after I added Luis, he sent me a snapchat and I was honestly kind of shocked. It just said, “OJ!!” Yes Luis called me OJ while I worked with him, and you best believe I put a stop to that real quick once we started dating. I snapchatted him back and we started having little friendly conversations over Snapchat. We began having deeper conversations and things started getting a little romantic. We told each other we liked each other. I wasn’t officially off of his team yet, so we agreed to kind of put this on hold and not meet up outside of work until I started in the new department. Once that happened, we finally went on our first date in Park City and had our first kiss. We’d been waiting two weeks to do that! We became official on August 9th, 2017 and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Our proposal story is simple and sweet. Luis had originally planned to take me to Park City to propose. He wanted to go to the bench where we sat and talked on our first date over a year prior. But the weather had other plans. On the day he wanted to propose, there was a huge blizzard, making it unsafe to drive through the canyon to get to Park City. I guess he decided he couldn't wait any longer though, so he ended up just doing it while we were sitting on our couch in our apartment. We were talking when he got kind of teary-eyed and told me how much he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I was surprised and delighted. It was a really beautiful moment with just the two of us and I wouldn't change it.
