We met at Shake Shack in Las Vegas, like true foodies. It was love at first sight, at least for Luis it was. After running into him once again that night, we danced all night long until the lights came on. I think he really fell for me after introducing him to The Cosmopolitan’s Secret Pizza later that night. What I thought was just going to be a fun girls trip, turned out to be the beginning of our story.
After hitting the five year mark and living together for two years I thought it was finally time to marry the woman that makes me laugh uncontrollably, loves me without a question and knows when I have an itch, high and left on my back. On January 29, 2020, I flew to the Big Apple to pop the question. I had planned it all out. While walking through Central Park, I was going to find a nice fountain or landmark, get on one knee and ask her to spend the rest of her life with me. To my surprise, while walking through the park, we encountered four other proposals occurring at the same location. We then went to the Top of the Rock. Thinking the view would be amazing and romantic, again I was surprised when the smell of exhaust fans filled the air and the clouds were so thick, you couldn’t see the Statue of Liberty. Finally on my last chance, I found a charming little Italian restaurant. When I was finally ready, the sounds of “Happy Birthday to you...” filled the room again and again. With all my failed attempts, I thought I’d be on a plane home with the ring still in my pocket. We ended the night with my sisters, sitting at a jazz bar, enjoying good music and good drinks. It was then I realized this was the perfect moment. Surrounded by family, good atmosphere and the woman I wanted to make my wife. She of course said, “Yes.”
