It all started with a lie…. about a very large dog. Hannah, who was managing Lantern Bay Apartments at the time, saw a new application to review from a man with a golden retriever. Being a rule follower (usually), Hannah called Luis, inquiring about the larger breed and informing Luis of the community’s 50 lb weight limit. He responded, “Oh, she’s only 52 lbs but a bit overweight right now. I’ll put her on a diet, and she will be ready by the time we move in”. Spoiler…. she was not. Move-in day came, leaving Hannah wondering, “What have I done?!?” as the world’s largest golden retriever came bounding into her office. However, Luis and Luna were frequent visitors to the office over the next few years, and Hannah couldn’t help but be won over by their charm. When Hannah was promoted away from their apartment community, she passed Luis a slip of paper with her phone number and a note saying to “stay in touch”. I believe it’s safe to say that he did, indeed, stay in touch.
