The streets of San Miguel de Allende are made of cobblestone and are definitely not "stiletto heel" friendly. We suggest that you bring comfortable shoes for exploring the city during the day and dressy sandals, wedges, or thick heels for any of the wedding day events.
Plan on arriving with both small and larger billed pesos as taxis, smaller restaurants, and certain shops may not accept U.S. Dollars. Pesos also come in handy for tipping your driver from the airport and any wait staff if you are renting a house for the weekend. There are several ATMs on the main square should you need to make any additional withdraws. These ATMs are centrally located, well lit and completely safe.
We do not recommend renting a car. San Miguel is a relatively small dense town with narrow, cobblestone streets.
