It all started with a post, well an "Auction Post" to be more specific - that Beah created on a Facebook group called Subtle Asian Dating! Kevin decided to send Beah a private message on Instagram after reading her Facebook auction post that read: "I'm ready to be your wifey" Kevin introduced himself with basic information (height, hobbies, age, etc), but what really caught Beah's attention was when Kevin mentioned he was new to SoCal and actually moving to Downtown Long Beach (which was only 15 minutes away from Beah!) that upcoming weekend. Beah hates LA guys so she knew she needed to get to know Kevin because she heard that Midwestern guys make great boyfriends. Kevin and Beah continued to exchange messages throughout the week, and they eventually had their first date on December 6, 2020. Kevin invited Beah to meet at the beach to watch the sunset on a Sunday afternoon, where he brought her boba - and ended the evening with ramen for dinner in Costa Mesa. Despite that swoon-worthy first date, Beah's work kept her so busy that nothing ever came of it until a few months later. There were several occasions where Beah felt that Kevin had an annoying personality and even almost ghosted him! Kevin, luckily, was open to feedback and continued to pursue Beah. After asking Beah on several additional dates, he had her head over heels. The rest, as they say, is history!

Kevin and Beah had many serious talks about plans for the future and the topic of marriage came up multiple times. It was clear that they both loved each other and wanted to get married! At the start of 2023, the two decided to look at rings together in DTLA and found the perfect engagement ring for Beah. The couple left the store with Kevin securing Beah's dream ring with a deposit. From that moment forward, Beah began to guess all of the ways Kevin could possibly propose to her, expressing with confidence that there was no way Kevin could surprise her. Kevin took it as a challenge and after much deliberation, decided the best plan was to not have a plan. He kept it as flexible as possible so that it would be a surprise; even to himself. The perfect opportunity arrived when the couple planned to attend the Sweethearts Night event at Disneyland on February 9th, 2023. The evening started off well with the intention of eating good food, going on rides, and having a good time. Little did Beah know, Kevin had packed the ring in his bag in case an opportunity presented itself. Beah had ruled out the possibility of a Disneyland proposal early on because that would have been way too cheesy, obvious and predictable. A Valentines Day themed-event proposal at Disneyland? There’s just no way it would happen there! That opportunity became apparent for Kevin when the couple noticed on the event schedule for that evening that there was going to be a Moonlight Jazz Cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat running periodically. Once they got on the boat cruise, they immediately went to the top deck balcony to get a view of the park. Although it was nice, it was too crowded. Kevin decided this was not the right spot to propose and suggested they move somewhere else. As they wandered the riverboat, they found a small interior room with cushioned seats, great lighting, and mirrors that lined all around the walls. It was the perfect opportunity to propose as no one else was in the room but them; very private and intimate. As Beah fidgeted with her phone to prepare for a selfie, Kevin covertly reached into his bag and pulled out the ring box. He got on one knee and asked Beah to marry him. Beah became teary eyed with happiness and almost forgot to say yes! Needless to say, Beah was surprised.
