We’re getting married!

Trase and Sammi met as “neighbors” on move-in day at college in the fall of 2016. Over the next two years, Sammi and one of her roommates continued to be friends with Trase and his roommates. Throughout this time, both Sammi and Trase knew that there was something special about one another, but they just stayed friends. In April of 2018, Trase FINALLY decided to ask Sammi on a date to the movie Super Troopers 2, where Trase bought a large popcorn and THREE kinds of candy. This is when Sammi knew, this guy was the real deal. Trase graduated from college in May 2018. The night of his graduation ceremony, Trase asked Sammi to come to dinner with his parents, siblings and grandparents. Later that night after dinner, Trase FINALLY asked Sammi to be his girlfriend. The first two years of their relationship ended up being long distance. Trase lived in Lake Benton, Minnesota and Sammi lived in Sioux Falls until December 2018, when she moved down to Sioux City, Iowa for clinicals. January of 2020, Sammi moved back to Sioux Falls for a job closer to Trase.

On May 14th, 2021, Trase and Sammi had planned to go up to Oakwood Lakes State Park north of Brookings after work, to scope out good campsites for them to book for later in the summer. They drove around both campgrounds and checked out the beach. As the sun was setting, Sammi thought they were leaving to go eat supper. On the way out of the beach area, Trase saw a look-out at the top of the hill overlooking the lake. They decided to go check it out before leaving. At the top of the look-out, is where Trase FINALLY (nervously) popped the big question! Sammi obviously said “YES!” They then decided to celebrate by going to Knotty Pine Supper Club for steak!
