Sean has been pivotal to Lucy's life for many years. He was friends with Lucy's sister Maggie during their freshman year at Mizzou. On July 3rd, 2012, Sean spotted Maggie at the front of a very long line to get into Harpo's in Kansas City. He used his single friend Tyler as an excuse to skip the line, introducing him to Maggie. Maggie and Tyler went on to fall in love, get married, and have 5 beautiful children. Both Lucy and Sean were in their bridal party and report great first impressions. Lucy intermittently pined after Sean but he remained unavailable for many years. While in Saint Louis in October, 2023, Tyler was about to head out to watch the Mizzou v Kentucky game with his good friend Sean. Lucy eagerly asked "Is he single yet??" Tyler subsequently played match-maker. When Sean was in Kansas City the next week, Lucy was invited to happy hour (along with all the Keels and good friends Tim and Annica). The chemistry was palpable, and Sean and Lucy stayed up for hours talking. Sean was living in Chicago at the time. The next week, he texted Lucy seeing if she would be interested in taking a trip for a second date. Little did Sean know, Lucy was on a date at the time but knew she must jump at the opportunity. She bought a flight right then to visit Sean in Chicago. Despite knowing that it was crazy, both Sean and Lucy knew by the end of the weekend it was worth trying a long distance relationship. Over the next two years, they spent many miles on Southwest Airlines going between Chicago and Kansas City (as well as innumerable hours on FaceTime). On August 22, 2025, Sean made the move to Kansas City to start the rest of their lives together.
