Also conveniently located in Forest Park is the St. Louis Science Center! Park on the planetarium side in the park and enjoy free admission, then take the skywalk across the highway to the main building and catch an IMAX movie or cool new exhibit.
Katie's Pizza and Pasta is a small chain of Lucy's favorite Italian food in town. Their cocktails, fresh pasta dishes, and pizzas are to die for – do yourself a favor and order in some pizza for dinner when you arrive into town or drop into one of their three restaurants for a yummy lunch. We cannot recommend it enough!
Cafe Manhattan has been a Clayton staple since 1989 and takes on the form of a classic sixties diner, serving up delicious American food like shakes, burgers, wings, and sandwiches. Lucy has loved it since she was a little girl and returns for the nostalgic feelings and excellent service. The margherita pizza on thin crust is a must-try.
Crushed Red is the perfect spot for an elevated-yet-affordable and fantastic chopped salad. Choose from their extensive menu or build your own. Locations are all over town – try it out! We recommend the Play Gloria with Raspberry Vinagrette, but you really can't go wrong. Have a flatbread, too!
Ivy comes highly recommended from several sources! According to their website, you can drop in for a wide variety of succulent coffee drinks, pristine and locally-sourced plates, hand-made cocktails, tasteful wines, and more. Visit their website to book online for a fun and unique breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
Named after the ballpark housed the St. Louis Browns and St. Louis Cardinals for 33 years, Sportsman's Park and Bar honors the generations of rich sporting and baseball history in the city of St. Louis. The walls are plastered with pieces of history, there's always a game on TV, and the classic American fare is consistently warm and generously-portioned. If you know us, you know we love baseball – check this spot out if you have time!
Companion Cafe, located in Ladue, serves up awesome breakfast and lunch. Their award-winning and sandwiches have never disappointed... I've truly never had a meal at Companion that didn't blow me away. If you need a quick breakfast, this is the way!
A Forest Park staple. Rent a pedal boat if the weather is nice or enjoy feeding the ducks! I have not been since they came under new management, but it's a beautiful space and the news menu (soups, salads, and sandwiches) look very good.
For truly fine fare, try Acero in Maplewood. It's the sister restaurant of The Crossing, where Lucy worked as a host for two summers in college. The owners are wonderful people and the food, service, and overall experience is guaranteed to be exceptional. Please make a reservation on OpenTable for dinner if you are interested – we promise you will not regret dining at Acero.
