Travel Tips

Recommendations for our out-of-town guests

Flight

O'Hare International Airport

Distance to Chicago: The CTA Blue Line (metro) gets you to downtown Chicago in about 40 minutes for <$5. Distance to our ceremony in Bridgeport: 30 minute cab/Uber ride, but limited public transportation options. A quick Uber ride is our recommendation. Distance to our reception in Addison: The airport is about 15 minutes away from the reception venue.

Train

Getting Around

Chicago has an affordable downtown train and bus system - Google Maps can help you navigate the "L" trains and bus lines, and you can pay by tapping your credit card on buses and trains. For more comfortable and direct transportation options, we suggest using Uber, Lyft, or downloading the app "Curb" to access taxis. If you're feeling active, downtown Chicago has good bike infrastructure - bike shares can be accessed through the app "Divvy." Docking stations are plentiful throughout the city.

Hotel

Hotels or AirBNBs

There are many amazing places to stay in Chicagoland! If you'd like to stay near the airport, we recommend staying at a hotel in Rosemont. Parkway Bank Park is a fun shopping/entertainment/hotel area directly connected to the airport and the city. From here, you can get to downtown Chicago in about 40 minutes using the CTA Blue Line. If you'd like to stay downtown, here are some suggestions! Lincoln Park: A distinct neighborhood with lots of beautiful and historic brownstone buildings, but close to the action of downtown Chicago - you can walk or bike the Lakefront into the city. Highly recommend the free zoo and botanical gardens. River North: Very popular area, both for living and for tourists. Really walkable and easy to get around, full of good restaurants and nightlife, close to the Lake and the River. West Loop/ Fulton Market: Located 15 minutes by car from the church, and a 25 minute walk from downtown Chicago. Formerly Chicago's industrial district, today the West Loop is full of renovated factories that have been transformed into trendy cafes, restaurants, and shops. The Loop: Downtown Chicago. Lots of good hotels in this area and lots to do right outside - you'll be close to all of Chicago's most famous sights and well-connected to other areas of the city.
