If you're wondering why we are getting married "Down the Rivah" in Bohannon, Virginia, you're about to get your answer! Almost all of our most memorable moments occurred at Lucky Point. It is where Ross first told me he loved me, it is where we got engaged, and it is where we will now get married. I proposed to Katherine the day before her birthday on the back porch in the pouring rain. It had been weeks since I asked her father for permission and months since I started carrying around her small sapphire ring. Between her work trips, not having water at the cabin, and family obligations, this was the first weekend we could get out to Lucky Point together. I was going to propose to her that night, rain or shine. And propose he did. At about 11pm that night, Ross dragged me out onto the back porch to give me an early birthday present. He handed me a birthday card with a sweet message inside. The whole time I was reading it, I was wondering why it was so mushy. But then I read the last sentence, will you marry me? When I looked up, Ross was frozen. He was not on one knee, no ring in hand, prompting me to ask, "is this a joke?" "No, will you marry me," he responded. In shock, I just pointed to the ground-- "you're supposed to be on one knee." That jolted him out of his frozen state and me into mine. From then on, I couldn't tell you what romantic things I assume he said to me, but I did manage to blurt out a "yes." We spent the night cuddling on the porch, enjoying our engagement, just the two of us. The next morning, Katherine and I got up early to watch the sunrise on that freezing, February morning. We roasted marshmallows and made a s'mores breakfast before heading to the beach to take pictures and tell everyone we loved the good news. We cant wait to share this special place with you on our wedding day!
