It all began on Pride weekend with a compliment, "I like your boots"; Xris slinked away and sat on another chair out of site, and Lola noticed. The next time they met Lola batted her eye lashes at Xris, and Xris was star struck. Without any words, they both knew there was something between them. Xris spent days dreaming about those eyes. When a mutual friend caught Xris daydreaming, they suggested Xris ask Lola out. The words next were "Really? She's so out of my league!" That friend gave the best advice that day. "Go, and go in with no expectations". And so the story of #Lucky began, and just keeps getting better.
Xris and Lola began their love story with talking. A lot of talking; talking over Facebook, texting all hours of the day, writing letters to each other and reading them over candle light, and sitting in the car talking for hours on end. They were seen out around town canoodling in the grocery store aisles, or finding a moment to sneak away for a smooch at a local dive bar and there was our friend whispering, "Gross!" out of love and affection for our ever-growing love. One night someone gave us a 'ship name and we were dawned the title, "Lucky" combining Lola and Ducky, nick names we gained over the years.
Xris was ready to propose after 6 months, telling their friends, "I'm gonna marry this girl". As soon as Lola felt she was ready for a proposal Xris bought the ring! One excruciatingly long year later of hiding the ring Xris decided to propose on their trip to Cabo San Lucas! They carried the ring around carefully each day hoping to propose at sunset on the beach. The last night in Cabo we finally made it down for a sunset walk, but it was cloudy! The first cloudy night of the whole week, but this didn't stop them! While Lola went off chasing the waves for the perfect photo Xris was chasing her down the beach with all of their belongings in tow. Xris called out, "Hey Beautiful", to which Lola turned around in utter shock to see Xris on one knee carefully clutching the most beautiful engagement ring in their hands. Xris said with a shaky voice, "Amanda Stanitsas, will you marry me".
