I was working in Olmsted Medical Center's, Emergency Department in June of 2014 when I first met Brian. Besides him being a great nurse it never occurred to me that we should date. However, our fellow co-worker and phlebotomy technician, Lynn Holtorf, had a different plan for the two of us. After multiple attempts explaining to her that I need a boyfriend and that I was just fine with my two Boxers, Emma and Elroy. She finally said that if I didn't ask him out, that she would talk to him for me. Embarrassed to ask this man out, I wrote on a piece of paper, "Want to get coffee sometime?" I stuck the note in his scrub top while at work and walked off to do patient care. Later I was sitting at the computer charting, when he walks past and flicks a piece of paper at me. Yup, we're middle school kids! The note said, "YES! and his phone number" That is how this crazy adventure begun...
September 5, 2014 was our first date, bowling in Rochester with his nursing school classmates. I was driving from Preston to Chatfield were I was supposed to meet him. On my way down Nelson Hill (dangerous hill between Fountain and Chatfield) I got a flat tire. I called Brian to tell him that I got a flat tire and to go on bowling without me. I said, I would call my brother or dad and we would handle it. He didn't accept that answer, showed up with tools to change my flat. He ended up having the wrong tools and had to go back to his house to get the right ones. Brian and his friend, Pete, changed my flat and we proceeded to go bowling. Brian still to this day, well it has gotten more elaborate today, swears he almost broke his finger that night. He now refuses to go bowling again and says it's a dangerous game. That night he was my knight in shining armor, my hero, and knew he was special! I had to hold onto this one!
