Her Version: Picture this: you are walking down the street with your earphones in, listening to music. You slightly lift up your head to observe your surroundings. Your eyes meet with this fine gentleman and as the butterflies fly in your stomach, you drop your phone and he helps you grab it. You exchange numbers and boom... LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. HAHAHA.. That is not our story. Lucille wakes up and sees a Whatsapp message. She opens it and it reads "so my full name is George Olarinde. I live in Ghana and work in a paper company. I am a believer in the Lord Jesus..." Okkk Mr. "About Myself". Lucille responds with an "LOL" and the conversation continued. They were friends before anything. They exchanged morning devotions, narratives of daily activities, and more personal details. In November 2018, Lucille and George meet for the second time in person, at Kotoka International Airport. They nervously hugged each other in front of her family. While in Ghana, Lucille and George decide to go out and get to know each other better. George plans a surprise date and takes her to La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. Perfect night, gorgeous scenery and good vibes. During dinner, George asks Lucille to be his wife. She ignores him because this is not the first time he has mentioned marriage. To her surprise, George gets on his knees and asks "will you marry me?". In shock, Lucille tells him to stand up. In her, mind the thoughts racing are" we just met up", "Boy, get up. what are you doing?" " is he serious?" 5 minutes later, Kay is still on his knees and Lu is speechless. She has the ring on her finger but hasn't given an answer. Clearly, she said YES! The time is here and as Aba, as George preferably calls Lucille, and Kayode, as Lucille preferably calls George, we like to say "#OLuckyUs" as we embark on our #JourneyToOlarinde.
His Version: It was a sunny day on a dusty road. I was to deliver items to Lucille for my friend Ben. In my mind I was just going to drop items; didn't expect to fall in love. I arrived and Lucille came to get the package. Once she stepped out she began confusing me with her english and her looks. Here comes this girl with a bonnet, T-shirt, house shorts and a robe on. Despite her looks, her beauty stood out. I dropped the package off and left. I couldn't get this girl out of my mind. I immediately inquired and found out she was in a relationship. Maybe we can be friends. Two years later, I got her number and I proceeded to text her. what can I say? "Hi my name is George, I am a follower of Christ and I like you." She replied "Hi, Lol.” We continued to text. A while later I found out she was single. In my heart I knew she was the one and proceeded to confess my love (she didn't accept it immediately). In November Lucille came to Ghana and I knew this was my opportunity to show her I was an honest man and I had plans of marrying her. I contacted Ben and He finalized the ring I wanted to give to Lucille. Fast forward to the day Lucille landed in Ghana. I am at the airport sweating, and nervous. I'm finally going to see Lucille again. What do I say? I was also meeting her mom for the first time. PRESSURE! I waited hours till they arrived. I nervously hugged Lucille and said “Hi. “ We hung out for the next couple of days as a thought of a plan to propose. Lucille had her ring without knowing. I collected the ring from her and planned a day trip to La Palm Beach. I was so nervous to ask her. What if she said no? I mustered the courage and proposed. “Will you Marry Me?” She thought I was joking and said “ My friend get up.” I stayed on my knees and when she realized I was serious, she put her hand out. She still hadn't said yes so I asked again. She said "Yes" and called her sister Princess. Today, we are on the #JourneyToOlarinde
