Located 6 miles from downtown Eureka Springs, this is one of our favorite cave spots! Onyx Cave is Arkansas’ oldest toured cave and has been famous since 1891. The park includes guided tours, gem panning, axe throwing, and an adorable gift shop. (FUN FACT-The cave actually does not contain onyx, but instead holds flowstone, also known as "cave onyx.")
Our all time favorite wildlife refuge! Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge has rescued over 500 animals from private owners, roadside attractions, and general cases of abuse and neglect since it's inception 30 years ago. The refuge holds many of varieties of big cats and other species as well, as well as educational tours and programs and a lovely tiger themed gift shop. There's even on-site suites you can stay at if you choose, complete with the sound of lions roaring as your morning alarm clock!
