We met in 1998 at a "Mom’s Night Out" gathering at Lucia's parents' house when Matthew was just a year old and Lucia was 2. We were high school sweethearts. Our first date was on December 7, 2013; Matthew was a sophomore, and Lucia was a junior. We met at Southpoint Mall, by the fountain. We walked around the mall for a bit and then took the escalator upstairs to the food court, where we enjoyed Chick-fil-A for dinner. It was so romantic. After our meal, we headed to the theater to watch Frozen, which became a favorite movie of ours. We walked back to the mall and sat down by the Christmas tree, enjoying our time together as friends. Over the years, we grew closer and became special friends. On October 18, 2015, we found ourselves back at the fountain at Southpoint. It was there that Matthew asked Lucia to be his girlfriend, and she happily said yes. We were both thrilled. In November 2023, we took a trip with our parents to Chicago for a conference hosted by Gigi’s Playhouse. It was gala night, so we were all dressed up and having a blast! Michelle wanted to take a picture of everyone in the lobby, and during the photography session, Matthew announced he had something to share.... He said, "Lucia, you’re beautiful, kind, and friendly. You always make me laugh and inspire me to be a better person. I want to continue this journey with you, even if it takes us longer to achieve our dreams. Will you do me the greatest honor of marrying me?" To which Lucia replied, “It’s a yes, babe! It’s definitely a yes!” Lucia was so surprised; it felt incredibly romantic. Afterward, everyone returned to North Carolina. We couldn’t wait to share their news with family, friends, and coworkers; Our community was so happy for us! In mid-June 2025, we started looking for an apartment in Southern Village. We found a lovely convo just steps away from our jobs at Weaver Street Market and Town Hall Grill! After checking it out and falling in love with how spacious and light-filled it was, Matthew and I signed the lease, and it felt amazing to be starting our lives together! We enjoyed shopping for furniture at Rooms To Go and doing grocery shopping together. We absolutely love our condo and cherish living independently. Hosting a housewarming party for our family and friends was delightful, and we also host “Dancing with the Stars” nights on Tuesdays, which is so much fun! Come visit us sometime!
