Our Story

Our story technically started in high school… except we never actually spoke. Despite going to the same school and sharing plenty of mutual friends, we somehow completely missed each other. (Or maybe the universe was just waiting for better timing… and for Greg to gain a little confidence.) A few years later, on the night Greg graduated from UT, he made what was arguably one of the best decisions of his life: sliding into Lucero’s Twitter DMs. What started as casual conversations quickly turned into a years-long friendship filled with nonstop laughter, a shared love for music, inside jokes, and the slow realization that we were kind of each other’s favorite person. For years, we stayed “just friends” while everyone around us basically screamed, “PLEASE JUST DATE ALREADY.” Eventually, after a night out in downtown SA, Greg escaped the friend zone. With the help of a little liquid courage, the cat was out of the bag and feelings were finally confessed. I think it’s safe to say the feelings were mutual. A few months later, we started dating right before Lucero began her Physical Therapy program. Even though being in a relationship during PT school was highly discouraged, Greg fully embraced his role as boyfriend, snack supplier, emotional support system, and unofficial therapist. Through every exam, clinical rotation, breakdown, and “I can’t do this anymore” moment, he was always there. Once Lucero graduated from PT school, we traded study sessions for travel plans and started exploring new places together. From San Francisco to Puerto Rico, we fell in love with experiencing new cities, new adventures, and making memories together along the way. Year after year, we made it a tradition to visit places we’d never been before. But Carmel-by-the-Sea had always been at the top our of list. Naturally, Greg made it happen. During the most magical trip, on a breathtaking hike overlooking the California coast -- Greg surprised Lucero with the easiest “yes” of all time. And now, here we are. Still laughing nonstop, still playing acoustic guitar together, still way too competitive at Rock Band, and still fully convinced that Chicago hot dogs are one of life’s greatest inventions. Through every high and low, we’re incredibly grateful that God always had a plan. We can’t wait to spend forever together, and we’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
