We met at work in the summer of 2020. He was quiet. I was... not. I talked his ear off every chance I got, determined to socialize as he politely endured it. I like to think I slowly grew on him. At that time, I had just been ghosted and told myself I wouldn't date anyone from work. Naturally, the universe laughed. One day he mentioned he hadn't really explored much of the local area much, I offered to be his "tour guide" at Frances Slocum State Park. We promptly got lost in the woods. Romantic? Debatable. A little concerning? Perhaps. Somehow, though, our wrong turns led us to the most beautiful view! My only regret that day? Not kissing him on the trail like I wanted to. Instead, we went out to eat afterward... and from that day on, we were basically inseparable. Somewhere between getting lost and eating dinner, it just felt easy, like we'd been doing this forever. Getting lost was the best direction we ever took.
