Question

Will our feelings be hurt if you don't go to the wedding in Germany?

Answer

Absolutely not! We would love all of you to be there but we understand that's not possible for everyone. We hope to have a celebration in the near future stateside!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please let us know by end of March :). You can tell us personally, via this website or with the RSVP card in your invitation.

Question

When should I book my flight?

Answer

We're planning to book our flights around March 2025, which is 6 months in advance. Deals might still be found up to 3 months in advance. We recommend setting up a google flight tracker.

Question

What are the requirements for international travel from the USA to Germany?

Answer

Passport Requirements: You need a passport that must be valid for at least six months beyond your departure date (Vicky has made this costly mistake before). Upcoming Changes: Starting in mid-2025, U.S. citizens will need to obtain a European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) authorization before entering Germany and other EU countries. The application process is online, costs approximately $8, and most approvals are granted quickly, though it's advisable to apply at least several days before your trip. THIS HAS NOT YET STARTED - and the start date is still to be determined, sometime in mid 2025. Visit this website for more information about the ETIAS start date: https://etias.com/

Question

How much does it cost to fly to Munich Germany?

Answer

The average round-trip flight price from Boston to Munich for a one-week trip in September typically ranges between $500 and $1,000, depending on factors such as booking time, airline, and seat availability. If you are looking for potential savings (and adventure :) you might want to consider flying to a more economical European destination (Like Dublin for example) and taking a connecting flight. This can of course have some risks, like missing connections due to delays, or long layovers.

Question

How do I get from the airport to the venue?

Answer

When traveling from Munich International Airport to the wedding venue (Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying https://www.brauereigasthof-aying.de/en/) there are a few options: 1 – You can rent a car at the airport and drive to the venue - Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying, Zornedinger Str. 2, 85653 Aying, Germany. This should take approximately 30 – 45 minutes. There is free parking on the premises. 2- You could take a taxi from the airport to Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying, Zornedinger Str. 2, 85653 Aying, Germany. This should take approximately 30 – 45 minutes. This would be convenient but expensive. 3 – You could take public transport from the airport to the center of Munich. This would be the S1 from the S-Bahn network, to the station Donnersbergerbrücke (11 stops, 40 minutes), and then a transfer to the S5 to Aying (18 stops, 50 minutes). From here we can pick you up! If you have any questions about getting there, just talk to us and we can brainstorm.

Question

What options are there for accommodations?

Answer

We have a block of rooms reserved at the hotel - Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying (https://www.brauereigasthof-aying.de/en/). Ask us for more information! Alternatively, there is a plethora of hotels, and rentals nearby. You might also want to consider staying in the beautiful city of Munich with many hotel options, about 30 minutes away by car, or 1 hour with the train.

Question

When does the ceremony start?

Answer

The ceremony will start on Saturday, September 13th, at two o'clock in the afternoon.

Question

What will the wedding be like?

Answer

Weather permitting, the ceremony will be outside on the hotel grounds. After our vows, we will move into the Troadkasten (the old granary) for a family style dinner in a charming, rustic cabin. See some photos here - https://www.brauereigasthof-aying.de/en/celebrating/facilities/troadkasten. We don’t have the final menu yet, but we expect typical German fare with an upscale twist and lots of local beer and wine! We will send out our menu to all who rsvp as soon as we have it.

Question

What is there to do in the area?

Answer

Aying is a small but old Bavarian village, with a 130 year old renowned brewery which serves many classic styles of German beer. While the brewery and surrounding village are charming, they are also small and quiet. Within day trip distance, there are many historical sites, museum and opportunities to view nature for those who wish to get out and explore. Having a rental car or taking advantage of a bike rental will help you experience the surrounding countryside and nearby city center. Some ideas: See this travel guide for Aying - https://www.reverberations.net/travel-guide-aying-germany/ Central Munich is a 50-minute train ride or 30-minute drive away. The resort town of Tegernsee is a 30-minute drive away or an hour long bike ride away. Vicky and Sean will be arriving on Thursday and Staying through Sunday so hopefully we will have time to do some exploring with all of you. Please reach out if you need some helpful suggestions.
