Blake & Sams story begins at James Madison University, where the two took a class together. On the first day, the professor announced that they would be working in small groups for the entire semester and instructed them to quickly form these groups. Sam and her roommate Abby scanned the room, glancing right over the two boys behind them, and looked around for literally anyone else. Blake leaned forward and asked, "Uh, do you guys want to be in our group?" Abby and Sam thought, how bad could this be, right? For their class, they had to do little projects every week, and their group consisted of Abby, Sam, Blake, and his roommate Miggy. They started meeting once a week to do their projects together, and soon, they met even more often, mostly just procrastinating and hanging out. Blake and Sam began walking to their classes together and meeting up at the campus Chick-Fil-A for lunch. They had Chick Fil A more than they would like to admit. After the semester ended, if someone asked Blake and Sam if they were dating, they would say they were just good friends. But things changed when one of Blake's roommates came home. They asked what they did that day: went to class, went shopping, cooked dinner, and watched a movie. His friend said, "So you guys are officially dating, huh?" Blake and Sam looked at each other, laughed, and said no way. Apparently, that was only the beginning!
Blake and Sam were packing for a trip to Colorado to visit Blake's sister, Emily. They planned to leave after work that evening, so Blake offered to pick up dinner instead of preparing anything. During dinner, Blake brought up their aspirations for the upcoming months and their long-term life goals. They chatted for a while, enjoying their meal from Chick-fil-A. After dinner, Sam finished packing while Blake asked her to help pack something in the living room. When she came out of the bedroom, she found Blake on one knee. Sam was in complete shock, knowing she was getting on a plane in a few hours to hike in beautiful mountains and see Denver. Blake was eager to get the ring on Sam's finger so he wouldn't lose it on the way there! For them, it was perfect.
