Question

GIFTS

Answer

No gifts, please. We are so grateful to each of you for the impact you’ve made on our lives. Getting to celebrate with you will be the best gift of all.

Question

DRESS CODE

Answer

Come as you are. We want you to be comfortable the entire weekend. Bring the clothes you feel good about wearing. On Friday night, pack clothes you'll be comfortable wearing to a bonfire. For the wedding, there will likely be a wide range of what folks wear, and we think that's great. If you're sure, go with "comfortable nice" (jeans with a cute shirt).

Question

WHAT TO BRING

Answer

TOILETRIES Personal toiletries (Islandwood provides a “3 in 1” shower gel with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner). There are toiletries available for purchase at their gift shop if you forget to bring any items. Sleep mask if you are light sensitive (sunrise is 5:30am these days) Shoes for walking trails, if you choose to do that (boots are unnecessary) Note: Islandwood provides linen and towels. Each lodge has a common area with hair dryers and irons, though bring a hair dryer if it’s important to have one. FOOD AND DRINK Small personal snacks (Islandwood provides all meals & prohibits bringing food to share) Note: Islandwood is primarily an outdoor education school, so they have policies that reflect their requirements as a school. Outside alcohol is not allowed, though it will certainly be available Friday and Saturday nights. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas. Finally, marijuana and drugs are not allowed on campus. ACTIVITIES 1 picture (or a few) to share during an icebreaker, if you did not already upload one. Consider a photo of a funny or serious moment with us, someone not at the wedding whose presence you want to bring into the space, a special place with shared memories, etc. 1 piece of advice (that’s no more than 1 sentence) to share during the end of the ceremony. Examples: Visit a new place every year. When people tell you who they are, believe them. Anything you want to bring for the talent show if you choose to perform. Be sure to sign up as spots will fill quickly!

Question

ILLNESS AND PUBLIC HEALTH

Answer

We are so excited to be bringing so many different relationships together to the same place, and we want every body to feel welcomed and taken care of while we are together, including older guests and guests with compromised immune systems. For people who are ill and contagious during the weekend, we ask you to stay home and rest up. For ambiguous situations–aka is it a cold or is it allergies?--we will ask people to use their best judgment and to take advantage of masks, COVID tests, hand sanitizer that we will make available at check in. In addition, you will have several opportunities to enjoy the outdoor areas on campus to limit time indoors. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We’d appreciate being in conversation with you if anything comes up in the days before the event.
