basically, neither of us really knows what happened (sam: lucas followed me first actually) but we ended up following each other on Instagram in march of 2018. we both thought we were cuties, but neither of us had the courage to say anything -- that was until may 2018. after we both graduated from college, lucas gathered his courage and DM'd me on instagram. we hit it off from there!
in june of 2018, after talking over instagram and then text, we decided to go to a braves game in atlanta! lucas drove the 2 1/2 hours down to the towne lake kroger in woodstock while sam nervously circled the parking lot and sweated through his clothes. lucas arrived, hopped in sam's car, and we proceeded to the game. first strike: sam forgets his password to ticketmaster. this is a big problem because ticketmaster is where the PARKING PASS IS.....cue sam calling ticketmaster for 20 minutes to unlock his account. so we park, get inside the stadium and decide to get a pre-game drink! second strike: lucas lies!!!!! as a prank, lucas says "what if i was catfishing you and i was actually 20" and sam laughed because that was silly HEHE!!........until we get to the counter and the attendant says lucas' ID is fake LOL. we plead with him that it is in fact a real license and, long story short, the attendant gives sam the drinks and says "what you do with them is up to you now." we take our seats in front of some rowdy frat guys and chat about the strange interaction we just had. as the game starts, we are enjoying our time getting to know each other in person when... strike three: IT STARTS TO THUNDER AND THEY CANCEL THE GAME!! so we roll our eyes because how could it get WORSE!!! sam quickly makes a last minute plan to go get jeni's ice cream and stop by a bar called little trouble. we spend the rest of the night eating wildberry lavender and drinking cocktails while getting to know each other. it was getting late and lucas needed to drive back, but sam had one more trick up his sleeve. sam asks lucas if we can make one more stop and he agrees! we end up going to this beautiful view of the atlanta skyline in a neighborhood outside of the perimeter to talk more and take it end. now the next part is debated and the story will change based on who you ask, but we end up making out! and the rest is history <3
picture it, june 2020. lucas and sam decide to go on a road trip around georgia! we go to Woodstock (where sam's from) and visit his parents and sister. it's real cute! then we head over to SOWEGA (aka southwest georgia) to do a tour-de-albany! we met casey's wonderful family, and have a big "welcome home!" party for the two of them. we loved it! our final leg of the trip was savannah. we went to all of the most beautiful places and delicious spots around the city. we end up going to this bookstore called saints and shamrocks to browse! now for some backstory! lucas had gotten me a claddagh ring because sam wanted one to commemorate his grandmother. well, lucas got a lil jealous and decided he ALSO wanted some jewelry and complained to sam about it every month. back to saints and shamrocks! they have a fun selection of rings and lucas eyes a celtic knot ring that he loves, so sam ends up buying it for him. later that night, we were in bed when lucas turns over suddenly. he says "i was thinking what if we go back to that shop, i get a celtic knot ring for you, and we get engaged!" after a few moments, sam says "ummm i don't want that ring, i want a claddagh." (mind you: sam would need a new one because the one sam had didn't fit on his ring finger AND we were going to get gold claddaghs for our wedding ring.). so lucas is like "WHY would you want THREE of the same ring like it makes more sense to get the celtic knot!!!" we end up arguing and going to bed mad. the next morning, we wake up and tearily apologize to each other for what happened. we end up going back to saints and shamrocks, buy sam a claddagh, put our rings, and BOOM - engaged!
